Computer students from Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys campus have been helping people to boost their digital skills.
Around 50 students helped out at libraries including Caerphilly, Blackwood, Risca and Llanbradach, for Get Online Week, which was held between October 2 and October 8.
The events for Get Online Week were organised in collaboration with Caerphilly County Borough Council and Digital Communities Wales.
Chloe Fleming, 19, from Risca, is currently studying for a Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Computing. She said: “I chose to get involved in Get Online Week because I knew it would be a good opportunity to talk to people who may not know how to use the computer or the benefit of using the internet. It’s also a really good thing for me to include on my CV for university.”
Sam Chapman-Skinner, 16 and also from Risca, wanted to get involved and help inspire people to be more confident on computers.
She said: “Being a Digital Hero is a great opportunity to give back to the community.
“It’s great that the Welsh Baccalaureate allows us to do it, especially as it’s something that I really enjoy.”
