Comedian Brian Conley and Welsh dance partner Amy Dowden have been sent home from Strictly Come Dancing after losing the show’s dance-off on Saturday, October 21.

Conley and Dowden – who hails from Caerphilly and is the first Welsh professional dancer on the BBC series – failed to impress the judges with their jive and became the fourth pair to be axed from this year’s series, losing out to TV chef and presenter Simon Rimmer.

Conley paid tribute to his mentor Amy, 26, claiming: “I want her to be on this show forever because I want everyone out there to know how special this lady is. She is a star and I love her to bits.”

Just days earlier, the pair had made a flying visit to Amy’s hometown, filming at the Visit Caerphilly Centre before heading to the Ystrad Mynach dance centre Shappelles for some practice.
