Muslim group Mend to hold discussion at Caerphilly Leisure Centre in bid to build community bridges

News | | Published: 10:06, Tuesday November 21st, 2017.

In an effort to dispel misconceptions about Muslims and Islam, Welsh Muslims from the organisation Muslim Engagement and Development (Mend) will be holding a panel discussion this evening, Tuesday, November 21, at Caerphilly Leisure Centre.

The 7pm event, which is open to the public, coincides with Islamophobia Awareness Month and will take the format of a question and answer session and exhibition.

Amanda Morris, Chair of MEND’s Cardiff Working Group, said: “It is important for us to engage with the wider community in order to break down misconceptions about Muslims.

“Many people will have opinions based entirely on biased media presentations, without having ever spoken to a Muslim person.”

My thanks, Pete, for drawing people’s attention to an alternative view of what MEND is. The Henry Jackson Society report is well worth reading.
