Croespenmaen company awarded over work to promote dementia

Business, News | | Published: 10:59, Thursday November 30th, 2017.

A plastics company based in Croespenmaen has recently been awarded a Dementia Friendly Community Award.

The Dementia Friendly Community award was presented to A.Schulman from the Alzheimer’s Society because of the company’s work to promote awareness of dementia, as well as providing information on how to support those living with dementia.

A number of criteria had to be met by the company in order to achieve the Dementia Friendly award, including the delivery of Dementia Friends training to staff. A ‘champion’ was also identified within the organisation to promote dementia awareness.

The company has also introduced a variety of programmes to promote health and wellbeing to staff.

These include setting up walking groups, bike riding groups, installing a bike shed and fitting picnic benches. Staff also benefit from reduced gym memberships and free fruit.

Excellent to see a local company taking such an initiative to raise awareness of this cruel condition.
