A man has been arrested after refusing to allow entry to police at a house in New Tredegar.
At around 7.30am on Thursday, November 30, officers from Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house on Long Row, Elliots Town, in New Tredegar.
They received reports of a small fire at the property, and a “cause for concern for the resident living there” according to police.
The resident refused entry to officers, who then forced their way into the house following “negotiations”.
As a result, a 33-year-old man was arrested of suspicion of arson with intent, and is in police custody.
There were no reported injuries.
