A town centre newsagents has been transformed into a convenience shop.

Suri’s News, on Cardiff Road, Caerphilly, has had a complete refit and had an official opening last month as a Family Shopper.

The shop, which employs five people, is run by the Suri family, who took over from the Morgan family around seven years ago.

VSR Suri said: “We are really thankful to our loyal customers for putting up with the disruption during our refit.”
The refit by the Suri family was supported by retail wholesaler Booker.

Caerphilly AM Hefin David, who had the honour of cutting the ribbon, said: “Much is said about the state of high streets in Wales and the rest of the UK, so it is fantastic to see a family-owned, independent business invest in their local community.”

Nice to see the High Street convenience stores fighting back against out of town “Express” stores – but will they be able to compete on price ?
