Increased confidence and growing demand for new products has seen growth at Caerphilly-based software and electronics company Blackwood Embedded Solutions.
The company, which designs software and hardware used in a range of high-tech products across the medical, retail and security industries, created two new jobs in the last few months and more are expected.
Managing Director Anthony Giles said: “There are a number of new ideas flying around at the moment which is great to see after what can only be described as a rather subdued 2016 and early 2017 following the Brexit vote.
“However there seems to be a more positive outlook from customers at the moment in response to fears of a hard-stop Brexit. This appears to be a good insurance policy against costly levies on legacy products by designing new and innovative single-sourced products.”
Blackwood Embedded Solutions regularly collaborates with medical devices manufacturers to achieve significant cost savings and bring products to market as quickly as possible.
Last month the company travelled to trade show Arab Health in Dubai as part of a Welsh Government initiative.
Well done ! – yet another local company doing well and flying the flag for our area.
So much for the scaremongering of what Brexit “may” do.
Time to end all the negativity and be positive and to get behind companies like this who are doing well !
Quite so, on another matter I wonder why ‘comments off’ appears on so many stories this week? I wonder if the establishment is rattled and is leaning on someone?
I’m glad you noticed that too.
I definitely think that the establishment is rattled……..they have been challenged too many times over the past months on many issues.
It is their true lack of transparency and openness which lies at the root of all of their problems ( not to mention their appalling management of day to day running of the organisation ).
But denying the right of reply and stifling proper debate can only cause them more harm long term.
And once again we see that the deniers of free speech are at work.
I agree with what you say. It will be a pity if this state of affairs continues as I enjoy reading, and sometimes responding to, all the comments. That is regardless of whether I share the commentator’s views on a particular story.
If this is to be a comment free online newspaper I will most likely stop reading the Caerphilly Observer. If it to be just a forum for the AMs, MPs and councillors to write blogs it will cease to informative and become like that news sheet the council sends. I can’t even recall what it’s called as I just put it in recycling as soon as I receive it!
The lack of comments was merely a technical glitch caused by a new method of uploading stories.
There is no conspiracy to ‘deny’ you a chance to have your say and nobody is leaning on anybody.
Thank you for your explanation / clarification.
Good! I am pleased about that but don’t believe that certain councillors have not voiced their displeasure to the editor about comments in the Observer.
