UPDATE: Death of man whose body was found in woods near Draethen not being treated as suspicious
The body of a man has been found in woods near Draethen at around lunchtime today, Tuesday, March 6.
Gwent Police, Welsh Ambulance and a crew from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were all called to the car park at Llwyn Hir, which is between Rudry and Draethen.
Forensic officers as well as a dog unit were also in attendance.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “At around 12.15pm this afternoon, the body of a man was sadly found deceased in the woods in Llwyn Hir Forestry close to Rudry.
“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the identity of this man and his death is being treated as unexplained at this time.”
A Welsh Ambulance spokesman said a paramedic in a rapid response car was sent to the scene after receiving a call at around lunchtime. The paramedic was later seen leaving Llwyn Hir just before a private ambulance arrived.
A crew from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were also called.
