A student from Blackwood who helped to organise a Wales-wide event has won a bursary from Cardiff Business Club.

Laura Davies, 21, who studies at the University of South Wales was presented with the award after completing an internship with Commonwealth Games Wales, during which she focused on organising last year’s Queen’s Baton Relay.

The third-year marketing undergraduate was given the £1,000 bursary after being nominated by USW lecturer Lauren Thomas.

Laura said: “It was a very unexpected but pleasant surprise to hear that I had been chosen for the Cardiff Business Club Bursary Award, and it was a real honour to be recognised for my hard work throughout my time at University.”

Lecturer Ms Thomas added: “Laura is an exceptional student whose commitment to the marketing profession shines through in everything she does.

“She consistently achieves high grades, and is a student ambassador whose help at open days this year has been extremely valuable.”
