Six people were arrested in a series of police raids yesterday, Thursday May 3, in Tredegar, New Tredegar, Abertysswg and Bargoed.

Gwent Police said more than 50 specialist officers and dog units were involved in the operation, which saw two cars and large amounts of cash seized – believed to be the proceeds of “serious organised crime”.

What are thought to be quantity of Class A drugs were also seized.

The six people arrested included four men aged 36, 28, 25 and 24 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and two women, aged 31 and 29, on suspicion of money laundering.

They are in police custody and investigations are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pope said: “Information received from our communities is vital for warrants like these be executed successfully.

“Nobody knows their villages and streets better than the communities that live there. If you see something that either seems out of place or in most cases, if something just does not add up then you can contact us and know it will be dealt with seriously. What may seems like a small detail to you, to Gwent Police, it could be the final piece to a much bigger puzzle.”

The six properties targerted by police in the noon raids were in: Vale View, Tredegar; Queens Road, New Tredegar; Schools Street, New Tredegar; Walter Street, Abertysswg; Alfred Street, Abertysswg; Mount Pleasant, Bargoed; and Jubilee Road, New Tredegar.
