Two chicken-breeding brothers from Llanbradach have won their first competitions at the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, held in Builth Wells on May 19 and 20.

Matthew Gale, 12, and brother Sam, seven, have been breeding chickens with the help of dad Andrew and grandfather Lewis Raymond, since November last year.

They won first and second prizes in the breeding trio competition for chickens and poultry despite having no previous competition experience.

Dad Andrew said: “The family are very, very, proud of them and it is good to see them getting involved in an engaging agricultural hobby.”
