Drug dealer told to pay back just £644 – despite illegally making £24,000

Christopher Morgan made more than £24,000 growing and selling cannabis

A criminal brought down by his accomplice’s girlfriend’s Instagram photos of her “Kim Kardashian” lifestyle must pay back just £644 from his drug dealing profits.

Christopher Morgan, 31, of Green Hill Close, Penybryn, near Ystrad Mynach, made over £24,000 by growing cannabis – but his crimes came to light thanks to the girlfriend of his drug dealing accomplice Mark Price.

Supermarket worker Emily Lock, 22, took selfies on her “extravagant” holidays abroad to Miami, Paris, Spain, Amsterdam and Dubai with Price, 27.

She had a wardrobe full of designer clothes – despite earning just £10,000-a-year as a part-time checkout worker in Lidl.

Lock was caught out by posting pictures on Instagram of fashions by Chanel, Versace Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin.

Her boyfriend Price, of Caerphilly, later admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and fraud.

He was jailed for seven years.

Lock pleaded guilty to acquiring criminal property and was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

Morgan, of Caerphilly, was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to producing and supplying cannabis.

His home was raided on January 5 this year and he initially claimed the plants were for his own personal use. But he later admitted the charges against him.

Morgan has now been ordered to pay back £644 at a Proceeds of Crime hearing at Newport Crown Court – because he has spent the rest.

At the hearing, held on Tuesday, August 7, prosecutor Roger Griffiths said the former labourer and father-of-two benefited to the sum of £24,204.

Judge Christopher Vosper QC made a confiscation order to be paid within 14 days or face six months being added to his sentence.

A fourth defendant Kyle Crowley, 28, from Llanbradach, was sentenced to five years in prison for producing and supplying cannabis.
