Vandals break into defibrillator and steal shaving kit

News | | Published: 11:49, Monday August 20th, 2018.

The defibrillator storage box was broken into on Wednesday, July 11.

Vandals have broken into a defibrillator storage box outside the Twyn Community Centre in Caerphilly, stealing the device’s shaving kit but not the defibrillator.

The incident is believed to have happened at some time after 9pm on Wednesday, July 11.

The defibrillator itself was left in the box, but the accompanying kit that includes items such as a razor and antimicrobial wipes were stolen.

Cllr James Fussell, who represents the St Martins ward and chairs the community centre’s committee, said: “It is disappointing that you try to do something to protect the community of Caerphilly, and something like this happens.

“Why somebody would do this I don’t know. While we have salvaged the defibrillator, it is currently out of use as we have to replace and restore the box.”

The defibrillator was paid for by the Twyn Community Centre, and costs around £1,600.

There has been an increase in the number of defibrillators across the Caerphilly County Borough recently as charity appeals like ‘Tommy’s Ticker’ and ‘CRY in memory of Jack Thomas’ have raised funds across the county.

This is sadly the state of our society today, waste of space cretins can’t leave anything alone, it has to be vandalised or stolen. These knuckle draggers do not deserve to share the same air as the rest of us. I’d round them all up put them on a large floating vessel , drag it out into the middle of the Atlantic and leave them there to rot.

Very true. This is what the people have allowed society to evolve into. Its not government, council or any other organisational fault, just peoples fault to allow it to evolve into this in the first place. I hope people are satisfied with what they see in this day and age.

Exactly, too many have no respect for themselves and no respect for others, no morals, no discipline, no dignity, no consideration for the world around them.
Modern society has transferred responsibility for blame culture, the mindless idiots who carried out this senseless act will whine that they did it for something to do and their parents will also whine that it’s not their fault that their children go around committing mindless acts of vandalism because there’s nothing for else for their kids to do but smash stuff up in the name of entertainment.
