The Campaign newspaper has announced it is ceasing publication.

Owners Newsquest, part of US-based media group Gannett, confirmed the move in its final edition, pictured above.

The newspaper, founded in 1984 as an independent, used to have offices in Caerphilly town centre on Market Street.

However production of the newspaper was moved to the South Wales Argus offices in Newport in 2008.

The move leaves Caerphilly Observer as the only newspaper dedicated to serving the entire Caerphilly County Borough.

The award-winning free independent newspaper, which started publication in May 2013, recently increased its circulation from 10,000 a fortnight to 12,000.
