A mountain biker and restaurant owner who was shot by a hunter in the French Alps was originally from Caerphilly, it has been reported.
Marc Sutton, 34, was cycling down a mountain in the Montriond area at around 6pm on Saturday, October 13 when he passed a group of hunters.
The prosecutor for the Thonon-Les-Bains region, Philippe Toccanier, told the Associated Press the death was believed to be an accident.
A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital for shock and is being investigated on suspicion of aggravated manslaughter.
A spokesman for Foreign Office said: “We are in contact with the local authorities about the death of a British man in France, and we are providing assistance to his family.”
A keen snowboarder and mountain biker, Mr Sutton ran a catering business in the area and opened his own restaurant, Wild Beets Kitchen, earlier this year.
