A Royal Voluntary Service fundraising group have raised £4,865 for Ysbty Ystrad Fawr in almost three years.

In December 2016, volunteers Sue Colkett, Thelma Marriott and Jennifer Burr, decided to set up a fundraising group for the Ystrad Mynach hospital.

The three ladies are regular, long-standing volunteers at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr who cover a range of duties in the retail shop and taking around the ward trolley.

Since December 2016, the volunteers have held a tabletop sale several times a year selling home-made cakes, jams, chutneys, pickles, knitted items, dolls clothes, gifts, and Christmas decorations.

Since then, they have raised £4,865 to buy equipment for the hospital’s wards.

The volunteers’ next tabletop sale will be to raise money pre-Christmas for the Tŷ Cyfannol mental health ward.

Jayne Rowlands, Royal Voluntary Service manager for Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, said: “We are most grateful to the hospital staff, and visitors, who never fail to support our fund raising efforts and look forward to seeing them at the next tabletop sale.”
