Caerphilly stabbing victim posts on Facebook that he’s “okay”. Two arrested in connection with incident

The victim of a stabbing on a Caerphilly housing estate has been discharged from hospital.

In a post on Facebook following the incident, Simon Howell is shown giving the thumbs up.

Gwent Police said two men have been arrested in connection with the assault, which happened at around 2.30pm on Saturday, October 20.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “At approximately 2.40pm on October 20 we received a report of a stabbing near Mill Close in Caerphilly.

“During the incident, a man was wounded and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he has since been discharged.

“A 19-year-old man from was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains in police custody at this time.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievously bodily harm with intent and was been placed on police bail until November 12.

“Officers are still following a number of lines of enquiry and are looking to trace a third person who could assist with their investigation.

“Officers ask anyone with information to please call 101 quoting log 286 20/10/2018 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.”

Following the stabbing, the victim was taken to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. The Wales Air Ambulance was also in attendance and landed at Morgan Jones Park.

A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that a screwdriver was used in the stabbing.
