Police continue appeal after smash on A4048 Wyllie Road

Gwent Police is continuing an appeal for witnesses to an early morning car crash.

At around 5.55am on Friday, November 2, police were called to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A4048 Wyllie Road, near Blackwood.

Officers, along with South Wales Fire Service and Welsh Ambulance attended the scene.

A 26-year-old, female driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

A 46-year-old female passenger also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Police have said her injuries are not thought to be life threatening but could possibly be life-changing.
The road was shut for five hours before re-opening.

Officers currently investigating the collision are asking anyone with information to contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting log: 56 02/11/18.
