A skate park at Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly has officially opened for youngsters to enjoy.

Residents were invited to have their say on the design of the developments after being involved in a meeting at The Old Library, Caerphilly, earlier this year.

Cllr Nigel George, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “Caerphilly County Borough Council is continuing to provide new facilities for our younger generations and this new wet pour concrete skate park provides an ideal opportunity to promote healthy and active lifestyles and encourage more participation in this sport.”

Cllr James Pritchard, who represents the Morgan Jones ward, said: “I am really pleased that the skate park is now officially open and that it’s becoming a popular site for young people to take pleasure in. This facility will create a new hobby for young people as well as helping to keep people physically active.”

Cllr Shayne Cook, also representing the Morgan Jones war, added: “It’s great to see the council investing in future generations at a time of austerity. This new facility will benefit children for years to come and add more attractions to an already amazing park.”
