Police dealing with spate of burglaries in Rhymney

News | Rhys Williams | Published: 17:05, Wednesday January 2nd, 2019.

Cars, iPhones, cash, jewellery and car keys are among a number personal belongings stolen in Rhymney in December.

Gwent Police have revealed that there were 12 separate burglaries in the area last month.

Houses and flats were broken into on Bryn Seion Street, Maes-Y-Haf, St Clares, Mardy View, Hill Street, Idris Davies Place, Castle Fields and Glan-y-Nant.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday (January 3) on suspicion of burgling seven of the properties.

He has now been bailed so police can continue the investigation and must to remain indoors between 7pm and 7am. He is also barred from entering Rhymney.

Gwent Police, who are investigating the thefts, have urged people to keep valuable items out of sight and in a secure place.

People are also urged to keep their houses locked and not to leave keys in doors.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting log number 250 31/12/18.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
