A minibus used by RAF Air Cadets has been stolen in Croespenmaen Industrial Estate, near Crumlin.
The minibus is believed to have been stolen between 5.30pm on Saturday, January 19 and 8.30am on Sunday, January 20.
The bus belongs to the Blackwood RAF Air Cadets, who spent a number of years fundraising for it.
Gareth Evans of the Cadets, used social media to say; “The minibus is used on a weekly basis to transport cadets to and from all the various activities that we as a squadron undertake and not being able to call upon such an asset will truly have a massive impact on the type and amount of activities we can now attend.
“The squadron does an awful lot for good causes in and around the Blackwood and Newbridge area, the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Forces Association and Asda Tickled Pink to name but a few, as well as providing a worthwhile hobby for many local teenagers who swell the ranks of our Squadron.”
“The theft of our minibus will have a negative impact on everything we do.”
Mr Evans added: “The best outcome would be for it be returned and we can then just get on with doing what we do and that is to provide the best opportunities for our cadets.
“If however we don’t hear anything positive in the next few days then we will look into setting up a Just Giving page, as it took the cadets more than three years to get the funds together to buy this bus and this includes selling our old bus.
“It’s such a big cost, a cost we simply can’t cover on our own as a charity.”
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “Officers are investigating and are appealing for information from anyone who may be able to help with our enquiries.”
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting Log 49 of 22/1/19.
