Two kebab shops in Caerphilly County Borough are up for a British Kebab Award.

Charcoal Grill, in Caerphilly town centre, and Wales Kebab, in Abertridwr, have been nominated in the Best Kebab House in Wales category.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday, March 18, at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London.

The two businesses are competing with seven other kebab shops from across Wales.

The winner will be decided by a points system, which includes votes from the public.

The winners will be decided by a host of well-known judges, who include politicians, journalists and industry experts.

Davut Bulut, owner of Wales Kebab, said: “It is a great feeling to be nominated for a nationally recognised kebab award.

“It is our third time now being nominated for the awards. Last year we came second in the ‘Best in Wales’ category.”

“Quality is a core thing in our business. We always make sure we get the best and fresh products.

Mr Bulut added: “We will be heading to London again this year for the final.  Hopefully we will win this year with the help of our customers.”
