News | Richard Gurner | Published: 20:01, Monday February 11th, 2019.

A Carphone Warehouse staff member was attacked with a hammer by two men during a robbery at the Blackwood branch of the mobile phone store.

The robbery took place at the shop in High Street at around 3.45pm today, Monday, February 11. Following the attack, the two men escaped driving off in a grey Volvo car.

The staff member’s injuries are not thought to be serious, according to Gwent Police.

A statement by the force said: “We are appealing to anyone in the area at the time who may have seen something which could help officers in their investigation, to contact us. We are particularly interested to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage.

“Please contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting reference 332 of 11/2/19.”
