Spring fair coming to Ystrad Mynach

News | Rhys Williams | Published: 15:55, Thursday March 28th, 2019.

Penallta Road, Ystrad Mynach

A spring fair will be coming to Ystrad Mynach on Saturday, April 13.

The event will take place from 9.30am to 4pm on Penallta Road.

The fair, which will be a one-off event, will have craft stalls, face painting, balloon modelling, a treasure hunt and more.

Hot and cold refreshments will be available throughout the day.

There will be performances from a number of street performers, including Latin dance group KLA, who recently reached the final of BBC talent show The Greatest Dancer.

Street dancers from Studio 54 Blackwood and Shappelles Dance Studio will also be providing entertainment at the fair.

Local singer Adam Horley will also perform, as will Melody Makers Choir and a choir from the nearby Ystrad Mynach Primary School.

More performers are set to be announced.

Meanwhile, there will be a raffle at the fair, as well as a baking competition and an Easter bonnet competition.

The first 50 children to turn up to the fair will receive a free chocolate Easter egg.

All proceeds raised will go towards Noah’s Ark children’s hospital charity, which is based in Cardiff.

Fiona Bishop, who owns Fab Fabrics on  Penallta Road and is organising the fair, told Caerphilly Observer: “I hope it’ll be brilliant. I want to bring people back to the village and bring everyone together.”

Roadworks began on Penallta Road on February 11 and work is not expected to finish until the end of April.

But despite the roadworks, business owners in the area have remained open as usual and ready to serve customers.

Encon Construction, who are working on the repairs to Penallta Road’s culvert deck – the structure that allows water to flow underneath the road, have made a donation to help the fair go ahead.
