A photography competition is taking place to raise money for Crumlin’s Christmas lights.
Photographs taken in Crumlin will be eligible for entry, with the winner’s photos featuring in a calendar.
The calendars will be sold to raise funds for the Christmas lights in the village.
The competition is set to run until September 6.
As well as featuring in the calendar, the competition winner will win the choice of a family photo shoot or a photography lesson from Beehive Photography in Crumlin.
Eleven runners-up will also have their photos featured in the calendar.
Local businesses will be able to buy a space in the calendar, with 11 spaces available.
Gillian Smith, secretary of the Crumlin Christmas lights committee, told Caerphilly Observer: “We’re running the competition over the Easter and summer holidays so people can capture photos when they’re out and about.
“We’ll start off with 100 calendars but will order in more if needed. If we could sell 200 we’d be happy.”
Ms Smith added: “We only had modest Christmas lights last year. I’m hoping we can have bigger lights on lampposts and three Christmas trees this year.
“We also have a bingo night planned for May and a Body Shop party for July, where people can try out makeup etc. We’ll get commission and we’ll also do a raffle.
“It’s a way of getting the community together.”
