Groove Armada announced to play at Caerphilly Castle

News | | Published: 10:28, Wednesday May 8th, 2019.

Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, better known as Groove Armada

Multimillion selling dance act Groove Armada are set to play at Caerphilly Castle this summer.

The live show, on Sunday, July 14, will be the first time the duo have played in Wales in more than ten years.

For nearly two decades Groove Armada have established themselves as one of the planet’s best loved and biggest selling dance acts. As comfortable on the big stages as they are in sweat-soaked basements, they will feel right at home when they perform at Wales’ largest castle.

From mellow, melodic chill-out tracks to electronic beats and uplifting dance anthems, a Groove Armada live show is like no other.

Expect to hear all the fan favourites including Superstylin, My Friend, I See You Baby, At the River and many more.

The date promises not only to be an incredible live show with a vibrant party atmosphere but a visual spectacle to assault your senses.

Warming up the crowd for the event will be Jean Jacques Smoothie, best known for his 2001 smash hit single 2 People.

Andy Cato and Tom Findlay met in London in the mid 90s. Groove Armada started as a series of nights across London.

Their first album on Jive sold over a million copies and four albums followed on Sony and BMG garnering Grammy and Brit Nominations and sold out gigs from Sydney to Moscow. A pioneering combination of performance and electronics, their live show evolved into one of the very best in dance music.

The show is being promoted by Orchard Live, who have previously run concerts at Caerphilly Castle for Ocean Colour Scene, Tony Hadley and The Bootleg Beatles

The Groove Armada show will be the last in a run of five this summer which includes The Stranglers, Black Stone Cherry, Public Service Broadcasting and The Zutons.

Pablo Janczur of Orchard Live said: “It’s going to be one hell of a party to end a run of awesome shows in this iconic venue.”

Tickets are on sale from Friday May 10 at www.ticketmaster.co.uk and through Blackwood Miners’ Institute.
