Megaday Junior Showcase will be coming to Bedwas Workmen’s Hall on Saturday, May 18.

The show starts at 7pm and all money raised will go towards Velindre Cancer Centre Charity.

A number of local acts will perform on the night, including New Horizons Youth Theatre, Machen Academy of Dance and a number of solo singers and dancers.

Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for children.

Tickets can be booked by calling 07896 885333.

Last year’s event helped raise around £1,200 for Velindre.

Norma Cabble, who is one of the organisers of the event, said: “Last year we raised more than £1,000 and had a full house. We couldn’t have asked for a better night.

“We’re hoping to have another successful night. Hopefully we can raise as much as last year, if not more.”

Ms Cabble added: “I used to work in a nursery so I want kids to have the chance to showcase their talents.”

A raffle will be taking place at the event, with a variety of prizes, including paintballing vouchers, hand-knitted soft toys and wine available to be won.

A spokesperson for Velindre said: “Megaday is celebrating its 25th year this year and their support is as strong now as it was 25 years ago.

“As well as the main event on August Bank Holiday weekend, they organise other events throughout the year to raise extra funds for Velindre. One of those events is the Junior Showcase which takes place this Saturday in Bedwas and it’s fantastic to see so many young people getting involved in Megaday.

“We hope everybody has a fantastic night and thank you all for your wonderful support raising vital funds to help Velindre staff to continue to offer the best treatment, care and support to cancer patients and their families here in Wales.”
