Thousands of people visited Machen Agricultural Show on Saturday, July 6, as organisers reported a record number of visitors.
While no official figures have been announced for the 78th annual show, Kevin Stanworth, chairman of the Machen Agricultural Show, said: “This year’s show far exceeded our expectations with thousands of visitors – it was a record year. Everybody was ecstatic and the weather was perfect – not too hot and not too cold.
“There were no real issues with traffic getting in and out of the site, but there was a time when we were running out of car parking spaces, but our traffic management team managed to sort it out.”
Mr Stanworth said the main show events, which included demonstrations from Rockwood Dog Display Team and an Icelandic Horse Display, were received well and that the show’s competition entries for poultry, rabbits, and goats were a particular highlight.
There was a wide array of animals, crafts and foods on display as well as a host of exhibitions from local organisations and charities.
