Llanbradach Bowls Club will be hosting a charity bowls tournament in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

The event, which will be held on Sunday, July 14, will begin at 10am and finish at 8pm.

The tournament will include 16 teams, including teams from Llanbradach, Gilfach, Bargoed, Gelligaer, Penyrheol and more.

There will also be a barbecue and a raffle, with prizes such as wine, whiskey and bowling balls up for grabs.

Llanbradach Bowls Club secretary Bob Cantelo said: “All the money we raise will go to Prostate Cancer UK.

“We chose the charity because our treasurer, Keith Jones, was diagnosed with prostate cancer a year ago.

“The event is open to anyone who wants to come along.

“The bar will be open all day and we’ve had beers donated to us by our brewery, Coors, so all profits will go to charity.

“We’ve also had local businesses, including Asda and the Wingfield Hotel, donate prizes for our raffle.”

Mr Cantelo added: “There’s already been some friendly rivalry between the bowls teams ahead of the tournament.

“We’ve been planning this event for the past six months.”
