The Big Cheese Festival 2019 arrives in Caerphilly town on Friday, July 26 bringing a weekend full of fun, rides and music.
The fun starts at 3pm when the festival officially opens.
The legendary Big Cheese Race then takes place in and around Caerphilly Castle at 6.30pm.
The funfair and music stage will be open all night and the famous opening firework display will begin at 10pm.
This year’s new look festival will have a new layout and new feel with street food vendors, live lounge bar area, three food halls and live cookery demonstrations.
Visitors can expect local and regional Welsh food and drink producers in the food halls and a dedicated cheese market featuring quality cheese producers from Wales and across the UK. Artisan street vendors add a burst of flavour and colour with some unusual and exotic tastes while showcasing their cooking skills.
Held in and around the iconic Caerphilly Castle, visitors can enjoy free entry on Saturday and Sunday to this popular attraction. An entertainment programme entails medieval re-enactments in the castle grounds, live music and a packed programme in The Great Hall.
Cllr Sean Morgan, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy said, “As a council, we are thrilled to welcome Ron Skinner and Sons as the main sponsor for The Big Cheese 2019.
“Working alongside this business, they have the same aims as us, which are to attract as many visitors as possible to the Caerphilly town centre for the Big Cheese, and I look forward to seeing its success.”
The Big Cheese is free to attend and will be open from 3pm on Friday, July 26, and 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
