Charity Help for Heroes has thanked the family and friends of a well-known Caerphilly man who recently passed away following an illness, after a donation was made in his memory.
Leonard Charles Davies, from Penyrheol, served with the Welsh Regiment and was a member of the Caerphilly Branch of the Royal Welsh Veterans Association. The caretaker of St Cenydd School in Trecenydd for many years, Mr Davies passed away on July 4 and donations were made at his funeral on July 24.
Sgt Dave Lancaster (Retired) of the Royal Regiment of Wales, presented £410 in memory of Mr Davies on behalf of his friends and family to staff at Help for Heroes Community Recovery Office in Treforest.
He said Mr Davies was aware of the support the charity provides to the Armed Forces community in Wales as he knew people who had befitted from the support on offer.
Help for Heroes Community Recovery Manager Shelley Elgin said: “We could not deliver the services we provide without the generosity of the British public, and we are truly grateful that the family and friends of Mr Davies have thought of Help for Heroes at this difficult time. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife Lynette, wider family and all those who knew and cared for Mr Davies.”
