Caerphilly County Borough Council officers, cabinet members and Pride Cymru representatives

Caerphilly County Borough Council leader Dave Poole and Caerphilly County Borough mayor Julian Simmonds will be representing the local authority at Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend in Cardiff on August Bank Holiday weekend.

The authority will join with neighbouring councils at the event to promote LGBT equality.

Cllr Carl Cuss, cabinet member and LGBT Ambassador for the council said: “Being a part of the ‘Proud Council’ initiative is a way of wholeheartedly letting our residents know that we are committed to championing diversity and inclusion for all.”

Pride Cymru representative Adam Smith recently visited the council and said: “We were delighted to receive such a warm welcome from Caerphilly Council on our round of Proud Councils visits. It was a pleasure to work alongside Caerphilly’s youth representatives to promote Pride’s Big Weekend, volunteering opportunities and youth provisions.”
