Suspected burglar arrested in Abertridwr with help of police helicopter

Woodland Terrace, Abertridwr

A suspected burglar armed with a knife was arrested by police officers early on Sunday morning (August 4).

Gwent Police said its officers were called to a “disturbance” on Woodland Terrace, in Abertridwr, at around 4.45am on. The police helicopter was also called out to help track the suspect down.

A force spokesman said a house on Woodland Terrace had been burgled and that damage had been caused to the property.

With the help of the helicopter, officers arrested a 25-year-old man, who witnesses said had a knife, on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

He is currently in police custody.
