Pupils from St Martin’s School and their families took part in a litter pick at Barry Beach

Sixth Form pupils from St Martin’s Comprehensive School in Caerphilly have been litter picking at Barry Beach.

The litter pick was organised by pupil Sophie Bunney, who was joined by friends and family as the group collected six bags of rubbish.

The group collected plastic, food waste and toys from the beach on Friday, August 2.

Miss Hopkins, Head of Sixth Form, said: “Sophie has done extremely well planning this event. Her passion to change the world is infectious.

“She has inspired myself and the pupils of St Martin’s to be more conscientious citizens of the world. Well done.”

The group filled six bags of litter

The school also thanked the students for “going above and beyond to support the local community and care for the environment”.
