A cocaine dealer has been jailed for three years after he admitted possession of the class A drug with intent to supply.
John Miles, of Llanfedw Close, Caerphilly, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, September 2.
The court was told how police stopped Miles driving in his BMW on September 23 last year after he was seen driving erratically.
Officers found cocaine with a purity of 82% and on examination of his phone found messages about dealing the drug. They also found £710 cash and resealable plastic bags. The prosecution argued the drugs had a potential street value of up to £450 but that it was likely the cocaine would have been mixed with something else.
Miles, who had initially denied the cocaine dealing charge at a previous court hearing, was said to be selling cocaine on a social bases and the court heard how he had nine previous convictions – including assault and for growing cannabis.
Mitigating, Miles’ defence said he had “turned his life around” since the offence and had enrolled in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation service.
