Bargoed scored six tries to earn victory over Tata Steel in the WRU Championship on Saturday, October 5.

The 45-7 win at Bargoed Park extends the Bulls’ unbeaten start to life in Wales’ second tier to four games – three wins and one draw.

The hosts took the lead in the fifth minute through winger Duane Dyer’s try.

The visitors responded soon after and took the lead through winger Robin Williams’ try, which was converted by Lloyd Rogers.

But Bargoed went back in front after a Steffan Jones penalty kick. Jones soon slotted over a second penalty to give Bargoed an 11-7 advantage.

The lead was extended further before the half time break. A try from hooker Rhys Buckley and a conversion and penalty from Jones gave the hosts an 21-7 lead at the interval.

The first points of the second half went Bargoed’s way – Dyer scoring his second try of the game and Bargoed’s third in the 54th minute.

The four-try bonus point was secured in the 71st minute, centre Jordan Purcell getting himself onto the scoresheet.

The game was wrapped up by late tries from Grant Rogers and Huw Rees. Jones’ scoring both conversions to seal a 45-7 triumph.

On Saturday, October 12, Bargoed welcome Cross Keys to Bargoed Park.
