A stretch of Mountain Road will close so inspections of the railway bridge can take place

A Caerphilly town centre road will be closing today (Friday, October 25) so inspection work can take place.

Mountain Road will close between the junctions with Bartlett Street and St Martin’s Road.

Network Rail is carrying out the inspection along the stretch of road, which goes over the railway line.

The road will be closed between 9pm and 6am every night until Tuesday, October 29.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said there will be “safe pedestrian access on one side of the road” while the inspection is taking place.

The spokesperson added: “This work will involve removing the road surface on one lane of the road over the rail bridge to facilitate a structural exam. Following this, the road will be reinstated.”
