Martial artists to compete at European championships

Ten members of Fighting Dragons Karate and Kickboxing Club will
compete at the European Championships in Worcester

Ten members of an Abertridwr-based martial arts club will represent Wales at the World United Martial Arts (WUMA) European Championships.

Members of Fighting Dragons Karate and Kickboxing club will compete at the competition, which is taking place in Worcester on Sunday, November 3.

Among those representing Wales from the club is Garin Davies, who was WUMA kumite world champion in 2018.

Meanwhile, Dylan Bishop, who won a silver medal at last year’s world championships, and bronze medalist Kieran Halls, will also take part in the competition.

The remaining competitors from the club are Carrie-Anne Stewart, Andrew Evans, Mary Parry, Jack Davies, Ieuan Rees and Zander Welles.

During last year’s world championships, four competitors from the club came away with world titles.

Nathan Bishop, chief instructor at Fighting Dragons Karate and Kickboxing club, said: “The students have worked really hard and we wish them all the best of luck.”
