An annual charity appeal for Christmas gift donations has had its launch for 2019.

Operation Santa is Caerphilly County Borough Council’s project to provide support and Christmas gifts and toys to more than 700 disadvantaged children who are not helped by any other appeals.

The children are nominated by social workers who work with families across the borough.

The Operation Santa will close on Friday, November 29. Donations must then be delivered to one of the eleven collection centres listed below by Monday, December 2.

Collection centres are at:

  • Penallta House, Tredomen
  • Apex Estate Agents
  • Bargoed YMCA
  • Bargoed Library
  • Caerphilly Library
  • Barclays Bank, Ystrad Mynach
  • Risca Family Centre, Brookland Road, Risca
  • Risca Palace Library
  • Pontlottyn Customer First Centre
  • Blackwood Miners’ Institute
  • Cwrt Rawlin Primary School.

Cllr Carl Cuss, Cabinet Member for Social Care and Wellbeing said: “The amount of donations we receive each year never ceases to amaze me. This is such a worthy cause and can only be achieved through the generous donations from businesses and residents of the borough.

“On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, I would like to thank all of those who have participated in the appeal previously for your donations and continuous support and I can only hope that Operation Santa 2019 is just as successful as previous years.”
