Blackwood Primary School has closed following reports of a “gastrointestinal infection”.

The school was closed earlier today (Friday, November 22) as a precaution.

Text messages were sent to parents informing them of the closure at 12.48pm.

A spokesperson for Caerphilly County Borough Council said “We have been working with Blackwood Primary School to issue advice following the report of a gastrointestinal infection.

“The decision was taken to close the school as a precaution, and an advice leaflet was issued to parents to alleviate any concerns.

“A deep clean is taking place at the school over the weekend and it is expected to open as usual on Monday, November 25.”
