Cross Keys RFC play their home games at Pandy Park

Cross Keys beat Trebanos 29-15 to earn a bonus-point and secure their second WRU National Championship win of the season.

The Keys scored four tries at Pandy Park on Saturday, December 7 to move up to tenth in the table after eight games.

After conceding a try and falling 5-0 behind, the Keys took the lead when No8 Gwion Jones crossed the line to score and Kieran Hill was successful with the conversion.

In the 18th minute, Hill slotted home a penalty to extend the Keys’ lead to 10-5.

The lead was reduced to 10-8 several minutes later when the visitors scored a penalty, with the score remaining unchanged going into half-time.

Twelve minutes into the second half, the Keys scored their second try of the afternoon through inside centre Corey Nicholls.

The third try was scored by outside centre Wes Cunliffe in the 61st minute.

Fullback Loui O’Brien scored the conversion as the Keys took a 22-8 lead.

With ten minutes remaining, the Keys scored their fourth try through winger Adam Tetley and secured the bonus-point.

O’Brien slotted over the posts for two extra points.

A late try from Trebanos, coupled with a yellow card for Keys replacement Connah Vaughan, wasn’t enough to stop the hosts sealing the win and leapfrogging their visitors in the league table.

The Keys return to action on Saturday, December 14 when they travel to face Ystrad Rhondda, who will be looking to restore pride after a 62-0 loss to Bargoed.
