Two people in Ystrad Mynach are celebrating after winning £1,000 each on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The neighbours won the prize after the postcode CF82 7NZ was announced as a Daily Prize winner on Wednesday, January 8.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador and former X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson congratulated the winners, saying: “What a great start to the day. I hope they go out and treat themselves with their winnings.”

At least 32% of all ticket sales go directly to charity. The next opportunity local charities will have to apply for funding is January 21.

The draw was promoted by The Wildlife Trusts, which has received nearly £11 million from the postcode lottery.

More than half a billion pounds has been donated to charitable causes across Britain and beyond through the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Television presenter Matt Johnson, who grew up in Abertridwr, is an ambassador for the People’s Postcode Lottery, and regularly appears in adverts knocking on doors to let people know they’ve won the prize.
