Gwent Police has issued a warning after an increase in reported thefts from unlocked vehicles in Caerphilly town.

Officers have warned motorists to remove all valuable items from their vehicles.

PC Stuart Lewis says: “We’ve recently received reports from residents living in Park Avenue, Bedwas Road, Castle Park, Lon Y Llyn and Hendredenny.

“During our early enquiries, there has been no signs of forced entry, so we believe criminals are targeting unlocked cars. There is no particular make or model of vehicle targeted.

“Our overnight patrols are out looking for the offender or offenders.

“Please make sure you do not leave any items on view in your car. Take them into the house with you and lock your vehicle.

“If anyone has information relating to these recent incidents, please call 101 or DM us on Facebook or Twitter.”
