Thousands of people across Caerphilly County Borough will be out at 8pm tonight to take part in the weekly Clap for Carers.
For the last three weeks. people across the UK have been coming out of their houses to show their appreciation for those on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.
For the last week, Caerphilly Castle has been lit in blue every night as a show of solidarity to health workers.
In a post on social media, Cadw said: “We are lighting the largest castle in Wales blue every night to show our support for the fantastic work that NHS and all key workers are doing for us.”
St Martin’s ward councillor Colin Elsbury, who mooted the idea to light up the 13th century castle, said: “It’s fantastic. The NHS has always meant so much to people in this country – the work they’re doing is outstanding.
“We all need to support the NHS and what they’re doing for us, and we need to listen to government advice to stay home. Hopefully we can get through this sooner rather than later.”

Meanwhile, staff from Bargoed ward at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr have been in touch with Caerphilly Observer sharing a picture and a video of them keeping their spirits up.
The healthcare workers say they are staying safe and keeping positive and have urged people to stay at home to save lives.
Staff at the ward have also thanked Heolddu Comprehensive School for manufacturing and providing them with visors and supermarket Iceland for various donations.
