Vandal jailed after attacking police officer

A man has been jailed for attacking a police officer and fined for breaking the coronavirus lockdown.

Daniel Carlo Depace, 30, of Richmond Close, Llanbradach, was jailed for four months at Newport Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.

Depace admitted attacking PC Capel, of Gwent Police, while he was being arrested for damaging a Mini Cooper at Graham Court in Lansbury Park, Caerphilly, on April 3.

Depace admitted charges of criminal damage and assaulting an emergency worker and was sentenced to two months imprisonment for each offence.

He was also fined £100 for breaching the coronavirus lockdown regulations by not having a reasonable excuse for being out.

Depace must also pay a £122 victim surcharge.
