An honesty box collecting money for St John Ambulance has been stolen from Bedwas Post Office.

The box was stolen from a book exchange outside the Post Office at some point between Wednesday, May 13 and the morning of Thursday, May 14.

Tracy Lyons, who runs Bedwas Post Office, told Caerphilly Observer: “We have raised nearly £60 for St John over the last five weeks through this collection.

“We have asked people to donate spare change, and it has really showed the strength of community here in the village.

“I am disgusted that somebody would steal the collection box, money that was for a charity as important as St John who are working on the frontline during this time.”

In response to a post by Mrs Lyons on Facebook, several people suggested a fundraiser or other form of collection to continue to collect for the charity.
