Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Pantside, near Newbridge.

The attack happened at around 7.55pm on Thursday (May 28) on Old Pant Road.

A 23-year-old man from Cwmcarn received a stab wound to his chest and is currently in a stable condition at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

The 19-year-old, from the Penpedairheol area, is currently in police custody.

Gwent Police has appealed for anyone who was near Old Pant Road between 7pm and 8pm, or may have information about the incident, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting reference 2000186315.

Police are also appealing for information after a man was stabbed near Caerphilly Castle about an hour after the attack in Pantside.
