All of Caerphilly County Borough’s country parks have reopened today, following a slight easing by Welsh Government of the coronavirus lockdown.
Car parks at Parc Cwm Darran, Parc Coetir Bargoed, Pen y Fan Pond, Parc Penallta and Sirhowy Valley Country Park have reopened as of Saturday, May 30. However the car park at the bottom end of the Sirhowy Valley Country Park will not reopen because of tree felling work by Natural Resources Wales.
Cllr Philippa Marsden, leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “I must stress the importance of social distancing when using these facilities.
“As a community you have truly united to control this virus and we need to continue to act in accordance with the law.”
Visitor centres remain closed and there is no parking enforcement in place while the pay and display machines are out of action.
There are no plans at present to reopen children’s play areas, muti-use games areas, and skate parks. The council has said these will remain closed in line with Welsh Government guidance and legislation.
