Man, 30, dies after being hit by car in Machen

A 30-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car on the A468 in Machen.

The collision happened at around 8.35pm on Friday, November 13.

The man, from Cwmbran, was walking in the direction of Caerphilly and the car was travelling in the direction of Newport.

Police said he died at the scene after he was hit by a black Mercedes AMG C Class.

A 25-year-old man from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.

Part of road remained closed overnight but has now fully reopened.
