The Rotary Club of Blackwood has carried out its ‘Big Christmas Shop’ of 2020 to help families during the festive period.
Working with Rhymney Valley Foodbank’s Operations Manager Steven Evans-Jones and Aldi’s Blackwood branch, the Rotary Club of Blackwood bought enough food and supplies for 50 Christmas packs to be distributed to families and individuals in the Rhymney Valley and the surrounding areas of Caerphilly and Blackwood.
With the help of Aldi store manager Lee Brass, four members of the Rotary Club filled several trolleys ready to be dropped off at St Peter’s Church in Aberbargoed.
Blackwood Rotary Club said the work of the food bank “brings out community spirit”.

Barry Jones, President of Blackwood Rotary Club, said: “The purchase and delivery of food items is one thing, but being able to support such a wonderful set-up in our community makes one feel very humble.
“This is very evident when you see the work of the food bank team and the generous donations of individuals and groups from our community and the volunteers. The food bank brings much needed help to so many in great need – especially now during the pandemic.”
The rotary club would like to thank everyone who supported the donation to the food bank and to wish them a Merry Christmas.
